The Doctor and The Souffle Girl

Well I was completely wrong now wasn't I?...

Just finished watching Doctor Who special, S07xE06 The Snowmen and I'm feeling a little boggled. It was not exactly like I envisioned in my mind. It wasn't very Christmas-y, if there weren't snow around I would have mistaken it for any other episode. Although I don't think any special could compare to the special two years ago, S06xE00 'A Christmas Carol'. Now that was a Christmas Special.

The rest contains lots and lots of SPOILERS, actually it's nothing but SPOILERS, you've been warned.

Happy Christmas to all....

Merry Christmas everyone!! I don't celebrate Christmas for its religious meaning but I still love it. I think this is becoming a tradition with me but if there are any of you who are at home browsing right now or, like me, alone in their dorm room.....

HAPPY CHRISTMAS
TO ALL AND TO ALL
A GOOD NIGHT!...

It's past the time here in Istanbul but Santa may still come to your country/city. Here is the Santa Tracker by Google. Have fun!

The Hobbit A Truly Unexpected Journey (Review)

I've finally seen the movie last week. It was as expected awesome, the story however was truly 'unexpected'. I would have thought Peter Jackson would stay more loyal to The Hobbit but what I think happened was he thought this series of movies would be the last of Tolkien's work to ever be filmed, so he worked a lot of little stories from The Silmarillion into the plot of The Hobbit. I liked it.

Snowflakes - Part 2: Geekiness

Tardis and Doctor coming out it with Fez and Sonic Screwdriver
This is the second part of my snowflakes, you can find the first ones here, it's mostly snowflakes of names of my friends I designed.

These however are strictly geeky ones. I've put the sites I got the ideas from at the end but if you're interested in making some yourself, I'd say just create your own ones, the satisfaction you get when you unfold one you've designed is so much more fulfilling. I've hung some of them on my windows, you can see in the pictures here.

I liked these the best, there were failed attempts too, so these aren't the only ones. There is a technique, making very narrow gaps, strings that I just can't seem to do. Maybe my papers aren't suitable for those.

Snowflake Mania - Part 1

Hello everyone!
I have a very good buzz going because snow came in last night! It's good and sunny the day before,  hadn't even worn gloves until now and boom! It's white all over the city.
With the snow today, I thought it's finally time to share my latest madness with snowflakes. Paper ones.
It started with a few innocent snowflakes but turned into something I fear now. First I did some generic, going with the flow snowflakes, then saw 3D ones and somehow took this simple thing into the next level, I'm afraid the level after this is obsession.. This is just the first batch, I have a bunch of geeky ones coming next. Stay tuned. Until then here are some 'irregular' snowflakes.

Fringe - Only 5 Episodes Left

A lot has happened in Fringe from the the middle of the last season (Season 4), with 4 more episodes to go. Now why are they finishing at episode 13? Because they want to end the series at the 100th episode mark. Doesn't make much sense if you ask me because everything feels pretty rushed right now. For instance we didn't resolve any of the dilemma at the end of season 4. Why is Peter trapped in this universe, is this really his universe, how come Olivia remember things happened in another universe and most importantly what happened to the other universe?! Just because they closed the bridge, doesn't mean they solved any mysteries or anything.

The Hobbit Update: Production

This is a story of how  a Baggins had an adventure...

That is how The Hobbit begins... Well it's not literally the first thing
in the book but it's on the second page and I think this way it has a more dramatic way to start things.

The first thing I thought was some events are probably going to be highlighted more than they were in the book, such as the troll scene and definitely Rivendell parts. They barely make up a chapter in the book but judging by the trailers, we will see more of Elrond than the six pages mentioned in the book.

According to TheOneRing.Net, director Peter Jackson said "We expended out the universe a lot more so that we weren't just staying with Bilbo and the Dwarves on their journey, as the book pretty much does. We started to expand some of what's happening to Gandalf outside of that journey."

That is great news, 'cause I think we will see much more of Gandalf's and Radagast's interaction than the book mentions.

November's For Love, But Everything's Better in December

Tumblr_meru75fam41qex8cgo1_500_largeLike many, Christmas is my favorite time, I love everything to do with winter actually, maybe it's because I'm a snow-baby, my birthday is in January.

November may be sweet but December is all about Christmas and snow and lights and decorations! Here in Turkey the decorations come out closer to New Year's, I can't wait for all the malls come alive with Christmas lights.

This is Vakko's famous store in Istanbul, a very famous and prestigious Turkish brand. They are also known for their Christmas decorations. Some say there is also a machine they puffs out fake snow every now and then, but none of us really saw it happen, but the idea is still very cool.  Oh and for bigger effect, I should mentions this: It hasn't snowed in Istanbul, yet....

I don't have many posts for Christmas, decorations and settings this year but themed-songs and such don't change that much over the years, so I'm just going to refer you to my previous posts on the subject. Just search Christmas tagged posts or click here.

Post below was my opening of the season two years ago, thought it was appropriate for a repost.

New Girl : Simply Adorkable

I know I'm a little late to 'promote' the 'new' series New Girl, so I'm just gonna dive in and highlight my favorite parts, and even then this post will not be sufficient enough tribute for this show.

You know how sad we were when Friends ended and there were no other shows that could catch up to it? Well I think New Girl might be the thing.

Bye Bye Ponds...

It's really been a shock how Amy and Rory left the series, I always thought Doctor would leave them alone to let them have their own lives, but to have them actually die was a Moff-fucked move.

Rest have a bit of SPOILERs, so click Read More for more ;)

The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey (2012)

This Christmas will be an even more special one than the others. The Lord of the Rings fans are going wild because the 'prequel' The Hobbit is finally hitting the big screen. Judging by the trailers, this is going to be one goose bump inducing experience. As one of the people who was introduced (of course by my brother) to the Middle Earth with The Hobbit, I am extra excited. But I must admit I forgot about the details of the book as I read it when I was 11, almost 12 years ago. I am looking forward to change that in the following 6 days because only a week later, The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey is here for our consideration. I have been in this strange mood to watch the trilogy again for the last couple of weeks, I even started wearing my Evenstar pendant unaware of the actual release date. I guess my body is more aware of my Elvish side than my brain...

Long Time, No Me

Oookay.... Anybody left there?.. It's been a while no?... Anyway I'm back, it is Christmas time. It's not a secret it's my favorite time in the year. Keep your eyes here and prepare for the things to come.

I just want to add something here. This blog is my personal preference blog, that means I do not promote things here, I merely use this place as an outlet for the things I love and am passionate about. You won't see things that are very hip but boring here and NEVER Justin Bieber (I'm strongly anti-Bieber these days.)

Anyway, tune in and see ya..
